So, we’ve had our eyes on YSL’s new Fusion Ink foundation for a while (since it had a waiting list of 12,000 in the UK alone, actually) and it’s finally about to hit the shelves here.

Like most foundations, the promises are big (‘light as a feather, but wears like ink’, long-wearing and works on any skin type to be exact), but after years of trying to love a longwear foundation, we must admit, we had our doubts. Let’s face it, most of them clump in all the wrong places and look like mud after a few hours.

So when we were given the chance to chat OOO (one on one, FYI) with Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL Beauté, about this supposed new holy grail of foundations, we jumped on it (because we all know the thought of not even needing to check yourself in a mirror all day long is nice).

We cut to the chase – why is this foundation the answer?

‘Because it actually does what it says it does’, Simmonds says casually. He’s not trying to impress anyone. He doesn’t need to.

‘It’s going to take your complexion worries away’.

Why? We pressed further…

‘Long-wear foundations are normally plaster-like’ Simmonds says, (we nod in agreeance). ‘This one literally feels like you’re wearing no make-up’.

The thing is, by this point, we kind of knew that already.

We’ll spare you all the scientific whiz-bang, but guys, we’ve been wearing it every. single. day. for the last month, and it literally doesn’t budge. From 7am to 7pm. But what really makes it standout is the way it feels when it’s on. It’s like, um… skin.

‘Your skin, but better’, as Simmonds put it.

Seriously, even after a 12-hour shoot day in semi-sweltering conditions, perspiration = 0 and skin = velvet. Yep. Tick. W I N N I N G. Game-changer status = nailed.

But hey, don’t just take our word for it. Go see Simmonds yourself (yeah, really) and be one of the first to get your hands on a 7-day trial (beats queuing-up with 12,000 other people if you ask us).
