We might be all about matte skin at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we’ve given up on our trusty friend illuminator.
There was kind of a beauty Renaissance last season. Matte skin won out over dewy skin, eyeliner stole the spotlight from statement lips and golden bronze highlights were replaced with white, silvery tones – definitely a different spin on spring summer.

And we’re not talking just a couple of shows, we’re talking heaps – from Kenzo to Peter Pilotto, from Marni to Prabal Gurung, to Giambattista Valli and beyond.
But it all makes sense really.

Matte skin is more forgiving and long wearing (particularly when the weather heats up) and white illuminators mimic what light really looks like when it bounces off the skin (i.e. not yellow or gold in tone, unless you’re Queen Bey). It’s fresh, it feels young and slightly ethereal but looks surprisingly natural at the same time.

Wear them mixed-in, over or under your foundation to light-up the face and highlight your features.
We’ll show you how. Read on.
