Nailing Winged Liner With Sara Donaldson

We’ve all been there. It’s mid-week, you’re feeling a bit, well, average and you want to add a little something-something to the make-up routine. But let’s be honest, the idea of breaking out of the day-to-day and venturing into something like a graphic eye or a bold lip feels like hard werk.
And look, we like to keep things simple, and subtle. So, when we recently hung out with Sara Donaldson and her collection of Saint Laurent everything, we asked the Queen of Minimalist cool what her go-to was for stepping it up a notch in the make-up department.
Her answer? A simple wing. Done, but not too done, you know? So take a look to see how she does it. Kudos, SD.
Firstly, you want to line the outer edge of your upper eye, close to the root of your lashes.
Sarah suggests “etching a liquid liner along the outer corner” to keep things looking natural.
This will create the perfect line before you do the flick.
The key is you want to add a very subtle lift at the ends, which “shouldn’t extend more than a few millimetres past the eye.”
Sara’s final tip is to add an extra line along the waterline, to create a thicker line, so yup, you guessed it, the lashes appear thicker too. “I only line half of my waterline, so that lashes appear naturally thicker on the outer parts.”
End result. Elongated, almond eyes. Bravo!
