We found ourselves in such a situation a few weeks back, when we caught up with ultimate babe Annabella Barber, who kindly agreed to show us the ropes when it comes to working a bit of bronzer and highlighting cream like you really mean it.
She spoke, we listened (i.e. took down every single word she had to say because god damn, if it makes us look anything like this, we want in).

Pump the highlighter on to the back of your hand (I use Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in ‘Golden Opal Pearl’).
Start with a small amount, and build from there.
Mix it a bit first using two fingers.
Press on to the top of your cheekbones in a ‘C’ shape around your eye, then down the bridge of the nose, onto the brow bone and finally the cupid’s bow.
Blend with your fingers.
Now get your bronzer, and brush a line just underneath the cheekbone.
NARS bronzer in ‘Laguna’ is the best.
Then do a dot over each eye, and brush it all out to blend.
Sometimes I’ll finish with a light dusting all over for a healthy glow.
Boom.
Pass the bronzer, beb.
