If you listen to your mum (hi mum), rules are not made to be broken. And we tend to agree after many a tried, and failed attempt to break them (beer before grass, you’re on your ass… that sort of thing…). And the same goes with the world of beauty and specifically hair care. The order of the way we do things is a very important thing; clean, treat, protect, style. Or is it?

Here at THE FILE HQ, we love a rule breaker. When we stumble upon a tip that serves as a major beauty hack, we’re down in a big way. Mostly because it saves time….and usually cash. So when we heard recently that hair stylist Michael Duenas (who has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga & the Victoria’s Secret girls) came across a rather large, and ground breaking hack – we were all over it.

The secret? Applying dry shampoo to wet hair for maximum volume and grit. Duenas’ stumbled across this one day by accident, “I was out of mousse on a job that required volume, and in a panic I used my dry shampoo. I was astonished at how well it worked.”

Well, amen to that we say. And did we mention it extends the time between shampoos? We’re calling it the holy grail of hair tips.

So, without much ado, here’s how you do it in two easy steps. Click through the gallery to see more.
