I’m not a make-up girl. See, I wish I was a make-up girl, but what I am is a girl who prefers 20 minutes extra sleep in the morning, and then ~maybe~ like 7 minutes extra after that. This means my only pre-work time to myself is spent driving in my car, drinking coffee, and trying not to think about how many coffee cups I’m wasting per year. Dewy, perfect skin, regardless of coffee intake, has always left me feeling more than envious, and I don’t think I’m alone in wanting a really, really, really easy-to-apply tinted sun protector that still hydrates my skin. You know the sort that sinks into your skin, and doesn’t make you feel like Kim Kardashian?

What I’m saying is, I went on the search for the perfect tinted (and hydrating) sun protection cream that would smooth out my complexion while still letting my freckles shine through. Here are my findings.

Dr. Jart BB Cream

One

I’ve heard a lot about this alleged ‘miracle cream’. Microscopical ceramides hydrate the skin from the inside, plumping the skin all day with time-release moisture. I have notoriously dry skin, so I was very eager to try Dr. Jart’s BB Cream. The simple packaging alludes to nothing but business, and this cream is no joke. It’s got a heavy consistency with a watery feel. I applied it, and automatically wanted to apply it again, not for any other reason than pure joy. Formulated without parabens, sulphates, or phthalates, for all you ~hippies~ secretly reading this ;).

La Prairie Anti Age Hydra Tint

Two

I have to admit, I was skeptical at first when it came to La Prairie’s Anti Age Hydra Tint. I’m not much of a hype beast, and after trying a bunch of other high-end brands (that definitely gave me that too perfect, airbrushed look), I decided that La Prairie would be my last soirée into this territory. So, on one particularly bad skin day, I put this ritzy Swiss formula to the test. First impression: great. The consistency was delicate and watery, exactly how I like it. Still feeling mildly skeptical, I applied the tint – it soaked straight into my skin, which plumped it out in all the right spots, and helped it stay fresh and dewy all day. 10/10!

3CE Stylenanda Back to Baby

Three

When it comes to beauty products, I love everything the Koreans do, and 3CE’s BB cream is a perfect example of why. The consistency is thicker than what I’d usually lean towards, however it wasn’t hard to apply, and gave me nice, even coverage. The smell of this product reminds me of lavender, roses, and surgical equipment. I’m definitely going to use this one again. And again. And again.

3

Bobbi Brown CC Cream

Four

Thank you, Bobbi Brown! At long last, a lightweight, sheer BB cream that just sinks into my skin. No concerns about dandruff hairlines, foundation crusted wrinkles, or an over-retouched 1990s glare. All with SPF 35. The perfect product to remind us that yes, you can be sun-safe and smooth-skinned without losing your freckles. For slightly heavier coverage (but still with that thin, dewy consistency), try Bobbi Brown BB Cream in SPF 30.
