Stylist Beverly Nguyen had her start as a beauty intern at American Vogue, which preceded stints working at revered fashion houses, La Garçonne and Opening Ceremony. As if her CV couldn’t get any more legit, she’s now assistant to ultimate celeb stylist, Kate Young. I guess what we’re trying to say is: this is a girl who knows what’s what.

As is our MO, we couldn’t resist snooping around the New York-based stylist’s bathroom, by way of asking her to share her top five desert island products with us. You know — the ones you couldn’t bear to live without. She took us on a journey through her beauty routine, and we came out the other side with a fresh list of must-have products. Thanks, Beverly!

Loewe 001 Man

“I recently took a trip to Madrid and came across this scent at the incredible Loewe store. I typically change out my perfume once a year, so figured it was time for something new! Previously, I’ve been obsessed with Balenciaga’s Florabotanica. Then came Maison Louis Marie’s Antidris/Cassis, and now the Loewe cologne. Fragrance is so important to me; I think a person’s scent can tell a lot about who they are and what they hope to attract. It’s so intimate and romantic. What I love about this perfume is the complexity. There’s cardamom, sandalwood, white musk, violet… all my favorite things. A lot going on here. Initially, it’s shockingly strong, but once it hits the skin, the ingredients completely enchant you.”

Tom Ford The Ultimate Bronzer

“What else is there to say? It’s all in the name. I love this bronzer — it enhances and highlights my cheekbones to give me a little bit of a sun-kissed look. The product is so light, and feels practically invisible on my skin.”

Eternally In Amber Wide Tooth Comb

“I’ve had short hair for the past few years, and it’s finally grown back out! It’s also the first time in many years that I’ve had my natural black hair color. So, out of the shower, all I’ll do is give my hair a quick brush with these beautiful Eternally In Amber wide tooth combs I picked up while I was staying at The Line hotel in L.A., and let it air-dry!”

3

Sachajuan Scalp Shampoo

“I like to keep my routine very simple and easy. No fuss from me when it comes to shower time! I bleached my hair blonde hair a few years back and I’m now (barely) bringing it back to life. In order to do so, I use Sachajuan’s Scalp Shampoo followed by the Color Save Conditioner, because it keeps my roots and ends extremely moisturized. If I have time, I’ll indulge by using the Hair Repair treatment, but you must have 10-15 minutes to keep the product in, which is v rare for me. I also find the scent to be heavenly.”

4

Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Colour

“Since I really don’t wear too much make-up for work, or before going out, two of these lipsticks (in Pirate and Jeanne) are essentially what takes my beauty routine from day to night. I don’t know what I’ll do once I run out, because I’m pretty certain they are limited edition *cries softly*. I’ll probably have to hunt eBay and buy them by the case, if possible. I apply both sticks – one on top of the other – for the perfect, balanced shade that matches my skin tone. It makes me feel done up, confident, and powerful!”

5

Marc Jacobs Beauty Magic Marc'er Precision Pen

“I like to use this Marc Jacobs eyeliner by applying a small flick, like a cat eye, at the edges of my lashes. It lasts through an entire day without smudging or disappearing. This pen has such a strong tip, and applies with real precision and fluidity.”
