Ok, so we love the inside word on just about anything. Restaurants, the best vintage shops, when Moda Operandi goes on sale, but mostly, yup you guessed it, we love it when our fellow Beauty Eds give us the down low on what (seriously) works for them.

It’s what they do every day. They try, test, see and feel every single product on the market, and they’re selective about what they put on their skin, and in their bathroom cabinets. So we wanted to ask, what actually works for them and why. And the outcome? A damn good edit of the products every girl should consider having in her kit.

Because we all know that when it comes to beauty, there’s a hell of a lot of products out there. Creams, serums, scrubs, hair treatments, spot treatments, the list goes on. It’s overwhelming. So as always, we’ve taking the guess work out, one beauty editor at a time.

Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Superscreen SPF 50+
An SPF 50 that doesn’t smell or feel like an SPF 50? Believe it. This non-greasy formula absorbs quickly with a matte finish, so it’s perfect under makeup.

Dr Jart Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
With more coverage than the average BB cream, this is my go-to base all year round. It’s super lightweight yet instantly covers redness. Unfortunately, it’s only available in one shade, so skip if you’re not on the fair-to-medium side.

Le Tan Coconut SPF 50+
It smells like summer.

St. Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion
I’m American, which means I lack the expert self-tanning gene Australians seem to possess. I usually leave the occasional bronzing session to the professionals, but I tried this in the name of research and was amazed by how well it worked despite the baffling technology. I can only chalk it up to witchcraft, but I’m all for a little white magic.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light
A super versatile powder I buff on with no real precision – as a highlighter, a bronzer, for a bit of contour. It instantly brightens and is easy to blend.

Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Dreamy Glow Highlighter
I go off-label and apply as blush – it’s a beautiful peachy-bronze shade.

Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara
Amazing lashes, zero smudging. My years-long search for the perfect mascara is over for good.

RUSSH

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum
Believe the hype. This serum is a serious investment but worth it. I saw a difference in my skin in two days.

Tom Ford Bronzing Powder
I love everything from Tom Ford but if I had to narrow down to the product I use the most it would be the bronzing powder. It gives a subtle colour with no shimmer.

Venustus God Bless Spray
I always travel with this natural lavender spray from Venustus. I like creating rituals when I travel to help give a sense of home and familiarity so I use this spray on my pillow just before sleep. It aids in fighting jet lag as well.

Christophe Robin Baby Blonde
I get my hair coloured at Valonz but with travel can struggle to get in as often as I would like. I keep my bleach blonde fresh with this purple mask.

Newby Hands

Net-A-Porter

Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow Fluid
Great to use over a tan, I also mix this with a body lotion to use on bare arms and legs.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir
The 21st Century update on the face mist – it smells great and quickly cools the mind and skin in warm weather, plus it’s my in-flight essential.

Dr Sebagh Skin Perfecting Mask
This is just incredible on any skin as it leaves it plumped up, feeling super clean and velvety soft – great after a hot day in the city.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
Gives flat hair great texture and guts.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Pre-Shampoo Treatment
I use this as a hair mask when at the beach to give dry hair an intensive treatment. There’s no better hair mask.

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask
Chill one in the fridge and use at the end of a long, hot day.

James Read Self Mask Tan Body + Face
My favourite gradual tan for a golden colour and no streaks.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze + Glow
The perfect bronzer and highlight set for summer skin.

Nails Inc Nailpure polish in Montpelier Walk
I love a beige-y nude nail against a (fake) tan foot.

Kevyn Aucoin The Volume mascara
A recent discovery but this mascara is amazing – if you love thick, long  luxe lashes then you need this.

Radical Age-Defying Exfoliating pads

Packed with a high concentration of AHAs these are balanced with soothing ingredients so the overall effect on your skin isn’t harsh.  They really brighten the skin so it’s tempting to use them more often, but because I am prone to pigmentation, I try and keep my AHA usage to the minimum, so I ration myself to once a week.

Le Labo Santal 33  – oil

I’m completely addicted to this sandalwood scent created by perfumer Frank Voelkl for Le Labo.

Top Shop Lip Ombre in Baffle

Two great shades of lip colour in a tiny compact with mirror.  You’re meant to apply the darker red as a primer, and then blend a touch of the fuchsia shade in the middle of your lips, but I also use the colours separately. The dark red makes a perfect matte stain, and the compact is just the right size for your purse.

Perricone No Foundation Foundation

This whole make-up range is genius.   A careful edit of make up for women who like to look like they’re not wearing any, with light shades and a limited selection of colours which miraculously seems to suit everybody.

Christophe Robin Conditioning Mask with Prickly Pear

I now bypass normal conditioners and go straight to this conditioning mask which is a great moisturiser for my coloured, knackered hair.  The comb glides through after application, making hair washing a slightly more pleasurable experience.
