The Beauty Looks You Need To Know About For Autumn

Long Hair
If there is anything we learnt from Fall 2016 it’s that long, natural hair is back in the game. From the naturals curls seen at Derek Lam, Zac Posen, and Jason Wu, school girl braids at Mansur Gavriel and extensions added at Lacoste, it’s clear to say we are glad we didn’t get that chop. The look was all about working with the hair’s natural texture, adding foam to the roots for extra volume, salt spray to the ends and finishing by combing through with fingers.

Graphic Eye
This look was all about pared back nude skin, that made the eyes the statement piece. At Oscar De La Renta the focus was on creating a 60s twiggy crease with a more feline edge. The artist’s used pencil, layered with Mac Creme Liner to achieve the dramatic look. Likewise at Altuzarra Mac Liquid Liner in point black was used to create an individual eye look for each girl. The eyes were balanced with a busy brow and minimal contouring.

Gothic Lips
Seen at Dior, Louis Vitton, and Fenty x Puma this look was all about embracing your dark side. At Fenty x Puma the look was all about pushing the boundaries of goth revival in a really strong way, with slicked back hair and strong features. The look was refined on the Dior runway, with the girls showcasing a more modern, sophisticated (and perhaps more wearable) interpretation of the ‘goth’.

Grunge
At Isabel Marant, the makeup artist’s worked to enhance the individual beauty of each girl, with a focus on perfecting the skin to create a really natural, beautiful finish that wasn’t ‘to perfect’. The Ninna Richi girl was more feminine, with an extra flush of colour added to the cheeks and some glossy highlighter, the look was elevated to an almost lady-like status.

Metallic
More Ziggy Stardust than back to the future, the metallic look was everywhere. Seen on the runway (and in the front row) at Kenzo, Opening Ceremony, Burberry, and Tome. From the futuristic glitter skin created for Opening Ceremony to the subtle metallic additions at Tome, this look was all about future beauty.

Wet Eye
Gloss on the eyelids was all the rage. At Alexander Wang the make-up artist’s bought to life a subtle take on the 90’s gloss lid, layering tinted Rosebud Salve over the top of Nars Angel Velvet and Filbuste Shadow Sticks. The look was completed with a layer of Nars Stick Concealer applied directly to the lips for a muted finish.
