My name is Adeline Ania Hocine and I’m an Algerian native currently based in Chicago. I’m the Marketing Muse for e-commerce jewelry store, Local Eclectic, as well as a writer and content creator. Likely adopted from my mother’s beauty philosophy, my own approach has always been a bit simplified. I prefer to create a routine that focuses on establishing healthy skin first, so I avoid products such as concealer and foundation as a result (the latter of which I’ve never worn to this day). I suffered from severe acne as a teenager, which definitely motivated me to take better care of myself overall, both inside and out. I also used to be a smoker with an extensive (and expensive) serum collection, until I realized that the harm of one was likely overpowering the benefit of the other. (And while I may still forget to drink water on a regular basis, I’m getting better at this all the time.) Now, I enjoy the occasional bold lip or shadow, but most days opt for brushed brows, a light coat of mascara, and a good scent, as a rule.

Aesop Reverence Aromatique Hand Balm

Living in Chicago, a good hand balm is absolutely necessary to surviving the winters. I was partial to the Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm for some time, but love the smokiness of this version.

1

Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam

As someone who always tends to run cold (and run pale as a result), this product has been an absolute dream. The creamy formula is lightweight and allows for the easiest application—perfect for those like me who can’t be bothered with brushes or professional techniques. I love to apply a dab to the apples of my cheeks for a little healthy, sun-kissed color.

2

Le Labo Santal 33

Before discovering Le Labo, I always struggled with pinpointing my signature scent. I often found that women’s perfumes and men’s colognes tended to overpower with hints of floral or musk, respectively. Santal 33 is the ideal middle ground. A fresh scent balanced by notes of sandalwood, a little goes a long way (and if applied directly to a garment, lasts even beyond a single day).

3

Glossier Boy Brow in Brown

I’ve always had thick eyebrows, and when I was younger, I would demolish them out of sheer insecurity. Whether the result of self-love or just exhaustion at continuously holding a pair of tweezers, I’ve learned to let them be over the years. Luckily, Boy Brow has allowed me to take pride in my brows, emphasizing their thickness while keeping them in place throughout the day.

4

Aesop B & Tea Balancing Toner

I’m uncertain as to how I managed before I discovered this toner, but I imagine my life and skin were lackluster as a result. Not only does it leave me feeling fresh-faced and with the slightest tingling sensation, I also can’t get enough of the smell!
