While we would never claim to know everything, such as the origins of the universe or the grooming habits of Valentino’s dogs, we do know one thing for sure – the bags under our eyes are not Prada (but god, how we wish they were). Dark circles and puffiness are caused by a number of things, which, in a cruel twist of fate, are often things we really enjoy, including coffee, alcohol and late nights. In other instances, it can boil down to genetics, stress, hormonal imbalances, or staying up until 3am claiming to be reading Tolstoy’s War and Peace when really you are on a Youtube shame spiral because you simply HAD to know whether Meghan Markle would survive life in the royal family. Such is the complexity of the ~modern woman~.

Anyway, we digress. A great concealer is an indispensable tool in one’s makeup bag of tricks – a placebo for 8 hours sleep, if you like. But what about when it comes to finding the right one? Now that’s a whole other story. We here at THE FILE have trialled them to death, we’ve sleuthed the Internet to find out what supermodels swear by and, just this week, we asked you guys to spill on the ones you couldn’t live without. Guess what? From full coverage to just-like-skin, you delivered on some serious winners.

See below – this is as close as we’ll ever get to having Prada for eye bags.

@nicoleharn

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. It’s honestly the best for concealing spots, dark circles, or pigmentation. The formula is creamy (duh) and blends so easily no matter what foundation I use. Can easily get away with using it on its own just where it’s needed and it melts into the skin”

@glowcorner

“I have the worst under eye circles. It Cosmetics BYe BYe Undereye is my favourite. I take a small amount on my ring finger, warm it up and tap tap and suddenly I’ve slept more than sleeping beauty”

3

@annamaejones

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind! I have tried soooo many under eye concealers for my dark circles and this is the only one that doesn’t look cakey or get in creases”

@emma_louise02

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer for dark circles”

4

@bedhead72

Chanel Le Correcteur De Chanel is a total god send! It covers (and brightens!) shadows under the eyes, covers redness, and miraculously it still looks like skin (just brighter, clearer, more filtered skin).

5

@nataliiewalker

NARS Soft Matte as of recently, but Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage is a staple that never fails me! Both are thicc, with too c’s, because that’s the kind of coverage I need”

6

@maisie.osis

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Shade #1 is super pale, full coverage but natural finish, stays all day, works when my skin is dry AND oily, and for £4. FOUR POUNDS, that stuff is gold”

7

@tammi_ireland

Glossier’s Concealer is unlike any other. So light on, full coverage and a little goes a LONG way. Works on little spots, eye circles, pigmentation, and as an eyeshadow primer”

8

@mollyyrobertson

Bobbi Brown Retouching Wand, it’s like a second skin”

9

@megsworld__

The One – Napoleon Perdis. So creeeeammmmmy”

10

@nuggetscheesebun

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. Best performer in humidity. It does not move and comes with two shades to mix with perfection”

@jennoski

Cle De Peau hands down!!”
