My name is Elfy Scott. I’m an Australian writer, model, and absolute child on social media. I’m a big proponent of a good skincare routine and natural beauty, but I do like to wear a bunch of makeup when I go out and drink a lot, so what do I know, really? I love to squander vast amounts of money on skincare, and I really try to stick to a healthy rotation of oils, goos, and cleansers to make me feel all lovely and feminine. I also rarely miss an opportunity to get on the ol’ high horse about using sunscreen every day (literally, everywhere, all over my body); I feel like a dolphin and leave grease prints on every surface I touch, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t a good investment of my time.

Lush Enzymion

This moisturiser is a fantastic everyday staple. I have what one might call an inexplicably oily face. (Note to makeup artists: trying to keep my face matte is sort of like trying to powder a bowling ball. It isn’t going to happen.) Enzymion is great as an everyday moisturiser and also helps to mitigate any shine, so I don’t continue to furiously reflect light into people’s eyes and blind them. It’s only polite.

Go-To Face Hero

Go-To’s Face Hero is such a dream when my skin is in dire need of hydration and revival. I like to use it after long shoot days, when foundation has just sapped the moisture out of my skin, or after days at the beach, when the sun has done its best to leather-preserve my face. It’s also a must-have for long-haul flights, because it keeps me from looking like a crypt keeper by the time I step off the plane.

Aesop Primrose Facial Cleansing Masque

I love Aesop masks (they call them “masques,” but I’m not going to trouble you with that nonsense). They give you that tight, satisfying feeling while you’re wearing them, and they just feel so unbelievably refreshing. Masks are my solve-all cure for dry skin, tired skin, existential depression, and low self-esteem. They just make you feel better. This Primrose mask could also potentially double as a foundation on days when you’re feeling particularly self-conscious.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% In Squalane

I was told by a friend that starting to use retinol regularly in your 20s is the greatest defence against developing fine lines later in life. A perfunctory Google search told me this was true, so I’ve since been enthusiastically dispersing this information to every woman I meet. I can’t attest to its ability to protect skin from fine lines (what with me being 24 and having used it for about five months), but I can tell you that The Ordinary’s Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane is an incredible booster for my skin. After using it for a while, it honestly starts to make your skin feel like a velvety baby when you wake up. I can’t stop compulsively touching my face after I’ve put it on. I currently use the 2% version, but there is a stronger 5% version. I put it on before I go to sleep three nights a week or so. I also recommend Deciem in general for all of your required tinctures, because it’s surprisingly affordable and carries incredibly high-quality products.

Lush Dark Angels

Can you tell I take this everywhere? Dark Angels is a deep charcoal exfoliant that I use every second day to really slough off the dead top layer of my face. It’s one of those great Lush scrubs that comes as a paste, so a little goes a long way. The only problem I have with this product is the fact that, if you fail to cleanse afterwards, you tend to look like a coal miner when you walk out of the shower.

Go-To Properly Clean

This foaming cleanser by Go-To is both exceptionally powerful and remarkably gentle. It’s the Meryl Streep of cleansers. It’s such a deep clean, I think that even if you were wearing a full face of clown makeup, this stuff would take care of it. I use it for my morning and nightly cleanse every day.
