Ok, so as beauty editors ourselves, we often joke that we get to try products for a living.

And while that might sound totally boss from the outside, it’s not always easy; there’s a certain responsibility that comes along with road testing a bazillion products that land on our desks every day (while at the same time trying not to over sensitize practically every part of our body).

Ultimately, we want our readers to try things that we’re genuinely obsessed with, that we know work, and that we love. Otherwise heck, what’s the point of being here in the first place?

And it’s worth saying here that we rely on a few sources to know what’s going down in the beauty world; make-up artists, models, girls on the street, brand managers, the girl who makes our macchiato every morning (srsly), seems like everybody has a hot tip.

But you know who’s always got the goods? The Beauty PRs. Honestly, we rely on the PR girls like a Top Cop relies on a jailhouse snitch. They know what’s happening on the inside, even before it happens.

What’s launching, what we need to try, what works, news that Lucia Pica is the new Global Creative Director of Chanel (hint: drop everything and run), that kind of thing.

You get the drift.

So we asked a select number of Beauty PRs about their product obsessions, what they re-purchase time and time again (because that’s important), and what actually works (because their reputation depends on it).

Read on for the inside word.

Omorovicza Mineral UV Shield – This keeps my skin protected year round. It smells heavenly and goes on like a beautiful moisturizer instead of a chalky sunscreen you typically think of.

Rodin So Mod – This has been my go-to lipstick lately and I’ve never been a daily lipstick wearer until I began using this. Of course, Linda Rodin is a genius and this was bound to be the most luxurious, creamiest lipstick of all! The shade is a chic and modern dusty pink that was great for summer and will see me right through Fall.

Tom Ford Traceless Foundation –  This is the best to hide my blaring black circles under my eyes, which have not yet disappeared post baby. Usually, I wear them proudly as badges of honour, but anytime I’ve needed to pull myself together, this is the only thing that helps!

Rahu Detox and Renewal Kit –  This has resurrected my summer salty locks and brought them back to life. Can’t get enough.

Benefit Clean By Cosmedix – My all time favourite cleanser. To me, having a good cleanser is paramount to having healthy glowing skin. I find it is hardworking but super gentle and is effective at removing grime, makeup, and pollutants. I have tried many different types of cleansers, and this one wins hands down.

Aspect Extreme C – This is my life saviour. As a mum and business operator, I find that early mornings and super late nights will take its toll on my skin. Extreme C is like an instant pick me up in the morning. It brightens, firms and helps to even out skin tone. The antioxidants help protect against free radicals and the corrective botanicals help to restore my skin’s radiance. LOVE!

Go To Face Hero – This is my hero! This little number not only smells divine but is packed with antioxidants and is super hydrating. It nourishing my skin when I need it the most and absorbs super fast without leaving my skin feeling oily.

PUR Cosmetics 4-1 Pressed Mineral Foundation – This has newly become one of my favourite products. This foundation not only combines pure minerals with skincare ingredients, but it is also a concealer, foundation and an SPF all in one. It doesn’t cake, it last and gives flawless coverage. It is perfect for when I am in a rush.

Mecca

Kevyn Auccoin The Volume Mascara – This mascara is the perfect balance of volumising and lengthening for me, but the best part about this mascara is it comes off in tiny tubes at the end of the day. I just pull them off, no need for harsh makeup removers or rubbing.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser – This is such a great all round cleanser. It removes makeup and impurities whilst being sulfate free and smelling gorgeous!

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence – This oil is one I recently discovered at the gorgeous Mecca Trove stores and I’m hooked. I love that it uses only botanicals, fruit extracts, and natural oils to deliver a perfect mix of anti-aging goodness. I always sleep with this on and sometimes put a little under my makeup.

Mecca Cosmetica Beauty Sleep Artistry Eye Brightener – This is so great for faking a good night’s sleep. One end highlights the inner corners of your eyes, while the other is a nude eyeliner for the lower rim. It’s a game changer.

Earth Tu Face Face Balm – Due to the nature of our work I end up experimenting with lots of serums, boosters, and oils but I always use the ETF Face Balm as a base and just mix in a little bit of anything new I want to try. The balm starts as a solid but softens up with the warmth of your skin. I use it on damp skin so I can get a thin layer.

Clairol Shimmer Lights Purple Shampoo – I’m not sure it’s great for the health of my hair, but it’s the only thing that keeps my blonde hair from turning brassy. Once or twice a week I apply it before I shower and let it sit for a few minutes (or even up to an hour), it works like a toner and keeps my highlights white-blonde when they might otherwise start turning yellow or orange-y.

Wet Brush – This is the only brush I use. My hair is long and gets very tangled when wet. The Wet Brush has flexible bristles that glide through knots without breaking the hair.

Beautycounter Cream Blusher in Caramel – I don’t wear much face makeup but in the middle of the winter, I’m desperate for a little color on my face. This product makes me feel like I have a dewy sun-kissed look.

Sephora

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet – This gel cream has really helped to balance my skin. My skin tends to be on the oilier side with some redness concerns, this lightweight moisturiser has become a staple in my routine.

Cover FX Illuminating Drops –  These highly concentrated drops look like liquid metal and allow you to customise your glow. I add them to my foundation and pat on my cheekbones for a finishing touch and added luminosity.

It Cosmetics Undereye Corrector – One of my biggest concerns is under-eye darkness and discoloration, so I can’t live without this peach based corrector. It’s creamy, highly pigments and immediately neutralises darkness.

Sephora Micro Smooth Baked No Foundation Face Powder – I love this powder! It provides coverage and radiance, with a no makeup feel and look. I wear it over liquid foundation for a more polished finish and alone for a more natural result.

One Day Dream

Beauty Blender Original – It looks like an egg and is your foundations best friend. For me, it’s all about the bounce vs the stroke. Kimmy K loves it and so do I.

Tarte Tartist Mascara – This gives me length and has a thick wand, which does magic for my lashes because I can’t do fake.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil – It’s velvety, double ended with a brush and dries to a natural powder finish to create the perfect brows. I’m slightly obsessed with the ABH range.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask –  This is brand new! It deeply cleanses and detoxifies my skin, drawing out impurities and leaving me glowing. And no parabens!
