Parabens are preservatives included in products to help preserve their shelf life and prevent bacteria from growing. They have a pretty bad wrap in skincare circles due to their potential to disrupt the production of hormones like Oestrogen, with concerns that it contributes to the development of breast cancer and infertility. Yikes. Although research confirming any directly negative effects of Parabens has so far been inconclusive, here at THE FILE, we try to steer clear of them where we can by using Paraben-free brands like RMS.
