When you think about it, Utah has given the world some pretty cool shit. Fry Sauce. Sundance. Footloose. Thelma & Louise. Some of the best vintage we’ve ever seen. But perhaps our favourite thing about the Beehive state is that it’s crazy beautiful; so it’s no surprise that it’s home to one of our favourites, Hannah Holman.

Born and raised in a tiny town of less than 200 people outside of Salt Lake City, Holman grew up riding horses, rearing cattle and working the land on her family farm. So it’s no wonder she is far from the average model girl. Holman put herself on the map with her editorial and campaign work (read: Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs, Vogue and i-D mag), but our ultimate fashion moment, the moment we fell hard, was when she rode bareback for Juergen Teller in 2011 for the Marc Jacobs Daisy campaign. That was no stunt horse. Seriously, how many models are walking the runways of Paris Fashion Week and then riding horses, shooting rifles and listening to Willie Nelson the next? In many ways she’s a new breed of model. In the world of fashion, but not of the world of fashion, y’know?

On the day of our shoot, Hannah has just purchased a pair of Alaia heels and a Celine dress. It’s NYFW and what’s the first thing a model does after getting off a long haul flight from Australia? Shop. Duh. Holman is that girl that everyone wants to dress like, but no-one can quite pull it off like she does. She’s got this rock-chick edge mixed with a street style sensibility that had us all like woah-who-is-that-rad-chick-over-there.

Hanging out with her is like a breath of fresh, mountain air. She’s laid back, wickedly funny and suprisingly cheeky, with a laugh that is totally infectious. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and her beauty routine is as effortless and relaxed as she is. We get the feeling that things are about to get even bigger for Hannah Holman. Saddle up!
