Look, you’d have to see it to believe it, but most days we don’t use eye cream. Shameful? Kind of.

It’s that extra step that we know we should do, but hey, just because we’re told we should do something doesn’t always mean we fall into line.  In the mornings, it’s the running late thing mostly, spurred on by the fact that we stayed in bed too long on some warped Instagram session where we ended up on the page of some hippie living in Topanga selling Moroccan rugs. Is this even useful to our lives?? Probably.

And when we don’t use it, this mild sense of guilt creeps in, especially when we get to applying concealer under the eye, like… oh, shit, this would look so much better had we applied our EYE CREAM!

And then imagine the added shame and embarrassment when we found out recently that we might actually be doing it all wrong.

Thanks to a session with the one and only Dr. Dennis Gross, we found out that eye cream should be applied not only below the eye (on the bags, around the bags, slightly under the bags) but around the entire eye zone, including the brow bone. Seriously? Seriously. Howdidwenotknowthat?

So today, we’re showing you how to apply your eye cream, because we thought if we’re still learning, you might be too.

Start under the eye area, and you know the drill, be super gentle. Be mindful of not pulling or dragging the skin; soft massage and patting are key and try to use your ring finger, it’s the most gentle approach.

Using a pea sized amount, dot your cream or gel starting from the inner corner of the eye, working down towards the outer corner of the eye (hello, crows feet).

Next, focus on the lids, this is key and often the forgotten zone. Use another pea sized amount and very gently with your ring finger apply the cream or gel over the entire lid. Work your way to the outer most part of your lid and down to the crows feet area. In gentle circular movements massage any excess into the crows feet area.

Next focus on the brow bone and just below, where the brow bone meets the eyelid. This is also a forgotten zone, but you want to remember it as in your mid 30s, it’s the area that starts to relax and droop a little.

And you’re done. It’s as simple as 3 quick steps. Note: We’ve been using Dr D’s Ferulic + Retinol serum because the gel like consistency is boss and it targets the trifecta; wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles.
