What does Beauty mean to you?

Beauty permeates many important parts of my life with people, objects, and moments. Beauty is an inner feeling of happiness. When I am present and give or receive other people’s happiness, the feeling of beauty shines in me and others. The outer beauty comes ‘cliché’ from the inner beauty.

I think people who have traces of life in their faces, are incredibly beautiful. Beauty is not in the superficial but in life.  Same thing with furniture – I’m drawn to older and handmade things that have a soul.

On Skincare

I started skin care five years ago, when I started working as a model and realized I needed to have a better skin surface for the makeup artists to work on. I have always had good but dry skin, and I used to only buy cream for dry skin at the pharmacy and wash my face with soap. Now I’ve invested in serum and both eye cream and face cream, and wow, what a difference it’s made.

I then invested in night creams with retinol and face wash. I don’t know if It’s rejuvenated my skin, but I now have more hydrated skin – never dry and flaky. My skin used to be quite red – I think it’s more even now too. I don’t spend a lot of time on skincare, 10 minutes morning and night. I discovered Drunk Elephant a few years ago and it’s become a favourite brand. Lately I’ve been trying a few other brands too. Verso has a wash balm with jojoba beads that’s lovely. Their retinol face creams feel great too. Maggie by Kakan is a brand I have had the opportunity to try, whose products are based on oil and feel good. But it’s a slightly different feeling at the beginning with oil.

On Haircare

My hair is very long. I wash it as little as I can so I don’t dry it out. I have been using Aveda Shampure Shampoo and Conditioner for 23 years now, and I love the smell and the texture, I do nothing else with the hair and it dries itself. I eat lots of vitamins to boost hair and skin.

On Make-up

I don’t usually wear makeup on a daily basis, but if I’m going to a party or some social gathering, I usually use either Mac Face and Body which is a very thin transparent foundation or Westman Atelier. Sometimes I have red lips, favorite is Mac Ruby Woo. I also have some other lipsticks in a similar colours because I think the cases are so beautiful – one from Dries Van Noten and one from Gucci. I think I look best natural without too much makeup, so this is it.

On Health and Wellness

I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, I like strength training. It’s like a happy pill, I like to run, preferably in the forest, but this year I haven’t that much. I like to cook and eat pretty much anything, but am careful to buy the best ingredients possible.  I have always been interested in food and its nutritional value.

I love the Italian and Asian food, and old classic more rustic kitchen – if I have the time I love to do a 10-hour slow-cooked stew. I usually start the day with a drink that I make with lemon, ginger, turmeric, rosehip powder, collagen, maca powder, dates, honey. I also take quite a lot of vitamins, three different B vitamins, omega 3, magnesium, iron, biotin, zinc, vitamin D.

On Rituals

Cooking is meditation for me, I love to just start without a plan and see were it goes, it’s calming and satisfying.  I also like to carve in wood, I like to carve spoons, it’s my favourite.

On Fragrance

I am very sensitive to perfume, scents and smell, but I recently found a favourite perfume by Comme Des Garčon called Marseille, it’s the first perfume that I feel comfortable wearing every day. I love natural scents like sandal, lavender, cedar.

Your Beauty Secrets..

I don’t have any, but I can feel the difference in every cell after a workout. Energised and happiness.
