What does Beauty mean to you?

I think beauty is a radiance. People are the most beautiful when they are healthy, rested, and happy. The rest falls into place. I think my philosophy is that the better you feel the more beautiful you are, but especially the more beautiful you will make others around you feel.

On Skincare

I used to use dozens of products each day and discovered it was no longer working for me. For my face I have quite a simple routine.  I discovered long ago that cleansing my face with water makes me break out, so I stick to toners and micellar waters now. I don’t touch my skin in the morning, with the exception of a the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. At night I use Glycolic Acid from The Ordinary on my face and then a thick moisturizer before bed. My classic cream is Cicaplast from La Roche Posay. My skin loves it. Recently I’ve been using a hyaluronic acid mask from Woods Copenhagen in the evening and it’s done wonders. I also love their guasha and their Niacinamide spray that keeps me from breaking out on the plane. For lips I always love my La Mer lip balm before I go to bed. I have some KP bumps on my body so I like to use body washes with glycolic acid or AHA to help exfoliate. Then I use a body oil, I love the ones from Buly that I mix into my classic BioOil from the pharmacy.

On Haircare

I have a massive amount of hair. Lots of thick strands. I had a hard time taming it for most of my life. The most life changing beauty decision of my life was to invest in getting blowouts and no longer doing my own hair. It has increased my quality of life by 100%. I get 1-2 per week, which feels indulgent but has become my little moment for myself. My salon does great deep conditioning treatments and overall my hair feels so much healthier since I’ve stopped doing it myself. At home I swear by my little Buly comb and classic Mason Pearson brush. There is also an amazing French brush brand called La Bonne Brosse, they have different brushes for each hair type and they’re so cute. I swear by the Oi oil by Davines, it smells divine and leaves such a nice finish. When I do wash my own hair, there is nothing better than the Love line by Davines. Best conditioner in the world in my opinion.

On Make-up

I am quite simple with makeup but I have really found what works for me. Every morning I use a cooling eye gel from Charlotte Tilbury that I keep in the fridge. It instantly depuffs my eyes. Then I use the colour corrector by Bobbi Brown in the salmon colour. This has changed my concealer game. Instead of covering up with concealer it just corrects the colour and hides a bit of my bags. I then use the Tom Ford Eyebrow Laminator. A random duty free purchase in the airport that has proven to be my holy grail! I have recently discovered the wonderful world of Saie beauty. I have always been scared of using blush but their cream formula and big kabuki brush make it soooo easy. I love the colour Cutie and Baby in the Dew Blush. My main makeup go-to is the perfect red lipstick. Quite often my makeup look is a bare face with a muted red lipstick. Byredo did a limited edition colour when I was working there called Red Delusion, it is my perfect colour. Under it I use the Mac lip pencil in Spice. It’s a great everyday liner. Overall I love makeup – I have a massive cabinet – but at the end of the day I use my few favorites.

On Health and Wellness

I would love to say I do more of this. I used to be a yoga instructor and had the best health and wellness philosophy + supplement regimen. My life in Paris has changed this quite a bit however there are parts of that phase that will always stick with me. I love to take magnesium in the evening. It makes a huge difference in my sleep. MagnesiOm by Moon Juice is my favourite. Otherwise any magnesium spray from a health store is amazing, a few sprays on your feet before bed, I love to take tinctures to help with stress management, mostly Ashwagandha and Holy Basil. The most powerful tool is breath and movement, I’m working on bringing more of it into my life.

On Rituals

As mentioned, my blowouts have really become a sweet ritual in my wellness routine. As crazy as it sounds, I’m lucky enough to live by the Luxembourg Garden and I’ve made it a ritual to go on a walk every morning.  It grounds me and gets me ready for the day. I recently tried the scalp treatment at Fauve Paris, so relaxing and incredible. Definitely will incorporate more of that.

On Fragrance

I’m a big fragrance girl. I probably have over 100 in my collection. The most nostalgic to me is an old bottle of Estée Lauder perfume that my grandmother gave to me before her passing. I keep it proudly on my vanity and love to smell it. While working at Byredo I fell in love with Palermo, a fresh grapefruit scent with slight woody notes. It reminds me of someone very special to me. My most recent discovery is Ganymede by Marc Antoine Barrois, it’s such a hypnotizing scent. I get constant compliments and people following me down the street to get the name. He has a fabulous store tucked off of Rue Saint Honoré in Paris.
