What does Beauty mean to you?

Beauty is confidence. Beauty is how you love your self. It is ever changing and something you can find in anything and everyone. My beauty philosophy is that what you are open to love about yourself, you will be even more able to love in someone else.

On Skincare

I practice the same skincare routine every single day and I always try to keep it simple. For me the less the better. However, the products I do use I never want to live without.  I do experience flare-ups with dermatitis during more stressful times of the year. I also have pretty oily skin in general, therefore, my skincare routine is centered around preventing inflammation in sensitive areas and keeping my oily skin from overproducing.

In the morning I use the Skinfix Barrier Foaming Oil Cleanser because it’s gentle and gets rid of any excess oil my skin produces at night. I then moisturize with Skinfix Barrier Triple-lipid peptide cream, which is the one product that has truly changed the game for me. It’s the one moisturizer I have used that actually soothes my dermatitis and also provides extreme moisture to my skin without clogging my pores. My holy grail product! Next, I might use an eye cream which right now I am loving the Fenty Skin Thicc n Smooth Peptide Eye Cream. Lastly, sunscreen.  My favorite is by Glossier called “Invisible Shield”. My nighttime routine is almost the same. The only difference is my cleanser which my esthetician recommends to keep my acne from flaring up due to oily skin. It’s a bit stronger so it’s better for nighttime. I moisturize my lips with this French brand I just discovered called “Dore” using their “Le Baum”. It’s my favorite product to use on my lips right now. If I happen to be experiencing a flareup I love to ice my face using their Dore Le Glaçon Ice Roller for immediate relief and soothing.

In Noni's File

‘All in one moisturizer but my favorite lip balm. The texture is thick but not sticky or heavy…it feels sooo good.’

On Haircare

I shampoo and condition using the Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Shampoo & Hair Mask Conditioner. Then I have been using the Bread Beauty Supply Hair-Mask Creamy Deep Conditioner which I leave in for 15 minutes before rinsing. My hair usually feels butter-soft after I condition with this. I make sure to keep my hair really wet as I hand-rake the Doux Moses Def Texture Foam through every section of my hair. The mousse leaves my curls super defined and shiny, and holds all the moisture in my hair for several days. Lastly, I do my curls with a blow dryer, and once fully dry I stretch my curls using medium heat. I believe I have my curly hair routine down to a science. These steps leave my hair bouncy, soft, and ready for anything!

On Make-up

I swear by the Saie Beauty Glowy Super Gel to prime my skin. I always get compliments on how dewy my skin is with this. It’s truly one of my favorites. I also love the Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint in shade 5/6, depending on the season. It looks just like my skin, but even glowier and is so breathable. Next I use the MAC Brow Set in clear, and once that dries the Merit Beauty Brow Gel which defines every hair to perfection. It’s just so good!! For blush, I’m probably using the Glossier Cloud Paint in either dusk or storm. I also love the Glossier Balm Dotcom Lip and Skin Salve in the shade “berry”. I buy a few at a time so I never risk running out, and have one with me everywhere I go. Finally, I’ll go in with whatever black mascara I have on hand and top my look off with a clear gloss (specifically Mac lip glass) for the final touch.

On Health and Wellness

Taking care of my health and body are big factors in me feeling my best every day. Taking care of my health is a huge part of showing up for myself. My weekly health maintenance routine involves hydration first, and trying to cook for myself most of the week. I take Vitamin D, C, iron and magnesium supplements which help with maximizing my pescatarian lifestyle. Throughout the week I make sure to workout 2/3 times usually doing a mix of cardio, yoga and biking daily. Sleep is obviously super important with the whole health thing, but I’m still working on that part.

On Rituals

Stretching! Life in NYC involves so much walking and running around it takes a real toll on my body. Also the city can be pretty over stimulating so I’ve been practicing my breathing and focusing on my intentions. This has been super important to my overall happiness and comfort on an everyday basis. Lastly, I spend time bi-monthly with my favorite Aesthetician Dr. Luzinete Ripardo. She has kept my skin at its peak for the past two years, her facials are everything.

On Fragrance

My favorite fragrance for fall is Vanille Antique by Byredo. No crazy story it’s just good. By good I mean amazing.

Your Beauty Secrets..

Peppermint tea all day if you’re experiencing any type of inflammation.

Also, if you want your perfume to last ALL day, make sure your body wash uses similar notes to your perfume and body lotion/ body oil. Then when you spray your perfume on, people will notice you for miles (in a good way). For example, I use the “Dylan” body wash in the shower by ‘By Rosie Jane’. I use the matching lotion and body oil and then I spray the perfume once dressed. Legend has it my clothes still smell like “Dylan” three washes later.

What is always in your handbag?
