What does Beauty mean to you?

Beauty is embracing the individualities we were all born with. To allow yourself to be different and to find beauty in standing in your superpower – your uniqueness! Don’t shy away from imperfections because it’s what makes us, us. Trends and fades change, so don’t get too swept up in molding yourself to the times. Allow your personality and energy to live in harmony with your outer-self.

On Skincare

I can’t have a proper start to the day without my morning ritual. I love to gua sha with a sensitive-skin friendly oil like squalene. Can’t forget the spf too! I swear by Elta MD. Night time ritual is all about retinol. It has changed my skin like no other product. If you’re a beginner, start off with a very low percentage. And then I’m always applying some type of occlusive lip balm / mask. Laneige is tried and true. I was recently gifted Necessaire’s Body Retinol and it is a dream. Clears away any bumps you may have on your legs or back. Over the years, my skin has gotten more sensitive. I combat that by keeping all my products non-fragrance and swear by French pharmacies.

On Haircare

My hair routine is very minimal at this point in my life. I prefer a leave in conditioner and a low fragrance hair oil. Crown Affair has great ones! I loved Hair Story New Wash for many years, but nowadays I keep to a Necessaire’s fragrance free shampoo. I find it’s just as important to invest in a good brush as it is in great products. I use a French pharmacy brush I purchased in Paris a few years ago. I try not to strip my scalp too much of its natural oils and rarely tug or pull at my hair. Healthy hair is key to my beauty ritual.

Favourite make up products

Spf is always the basis of my everyday make-up routine. I love Elta MD’s tinted mineral sunscreen for sensitive skin. If there is one product I swear by, it’s this. After that, I love a good cream blush. Been in love with everything Westman Atelier. I’m a make-up minimalist, so brands like Merit and Saie are my go to. I also swear by Lanolips balm. An industry insider gem. For the evening, I love a brown eyeliner and brown lips.  Color theory is really important in how I buy make-up products. Find your undertone, then purchase products that compliment it. What works for someone may not always work for you! (Do research.)

On Health and Wellness

I believe a balanced, holistic life is the mantra to my wellness philosophy. Everything and everyone is interconnected. We are not islands. What you put in is what you get out. So meditating is super important to calm my mind and anxieties. Working out — whether it’s pilates or yoga is a necessary part of how I maintain a healthy lifestyle. I was recently gifted Perelel vitamins and think supplements are a great way to boost one’s overall health. But I truly believe being in nature can be unbelievably grounding and foundational to human health. Living a life where there is respect and love for what sustains us. Gratitude.

Rituals

Taking time everyday to be grateful and mindful of life’s impermanence and delicacy. Tell everyone who matter to you how much they mean to you–– don’t wait. Allow yourself to be alone. Self affirmations. Dance and move your body.

On Fragrance

I remember the first luxury perfume bottle I purchased in high school was Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. How proud I was to own something so impossibly chic. The pink blush hue. I rarely wore it to savor as much and as long as possible. It made me feel like I was in a French New Wave movie and that fulfilled all my teenage dreams.

Your beauty Secrets

Get good rest. Lots of water throughout the day. Less is generally more. Manage your vices. Move your body everyday. Eat good food that makes you happy. Get sunlight. Have something you look forward to everyday.
