What does Beauty mean to you?

To me, beauty is about ageing naturally and gracefully — it’s found in the imperfections that make each of us unique. I’ve always embraced a “less is more” approach, and that still deeply resonates with me. Beauty, for me, is about a confidence in feeling like yourself and not masking that.

On Skincare

My morning and evening routines are nearly identical, aside from SPF in the daytime. I start by cleansing with the LESSE Gentle Cleanser, then tone with Beauty of Joseon. I use the LESSE Eye Cream and either a LESSE serum or Agent Nateur serum, followed by Beauty of Joseon SPF during the day. I also use Weleda Skin Food for an extra layer of hydration—lightly in the morning, and I really slather it on at night. And I drink a lot of water—it’s such a simple but essential part of skincare – I really believe that what’s going on inside is reflected on the outside.

On Makeup

I don’t wear makeup often, especially since I wear it so much for work. On most days, I stick to skincare and then use Weleda Skin Food as a subtle high-
lighter. On the rare occasion I wear eye makeup, I’ll use the brown eyeliner pencil or brown eyeshadow palette from Chanel—they’re simple, flattering, and feel timeless.

On Haircare

My approach to hair care is similar to skincare: less is more. I avoid heat styling entirely and let my hair air dry—it’s naturally straight, so this gives it a bit of soft texture. I steer clear of products with silicone. When I do use something, it’s usually from Sandor, a beautiful brand a friend of mine created – their products are clean and nourishing and look and smell divine.

On Health and Wellness

Yoga has been the most transformative addition to my wellness routine. I started practising more consistently about five years ago, and now I truly can’t imagine my life without it – it brings me back into my body and calms my mind. I also drink a lot of water, try to eat well, and prioritise sleep — ideally eight hours a night, though that’s not always easy with travel and changing time zones regularly with work, but when I’m in those good routines, it really reflects in how I feel, mentally and physically.

On Fragrance

For the past couple of years, I’ve only worn Costa Brazil. It’s subtle and sensual and unisex, and every time I wear it, at least one person comments on how good it smells -it’s become my signature scent.

A beauty tip you swear by?

It really depends on your skin type and lifestyle, but for me it’s the basics: hydration, sleep, clean products — I recently discovered an app called Yuka where you can scan the barcode of foods and products and it gives you a rating and is very transparent about what’s in them. I have really loved trying to move towards a clean skincare approach.

Joanna's Directory

I’m very low maintenance when it comes to treatments—something I actually want to improve on! That said, the one place I do make time for in New York is Spencer’s Spa in Soho – I’ve been going since it opened; their facials and massages are incredible, and the space itself is so calming and beautiful.
