Beauty to me is that thing that makes each one of us unique; discovering what it is and embracing it. Uniformity terrifies me.
What does Beauty mean to you?
On Skincare
With my skin being quite sensitive, I keep my routine rather simple.
In the morning, I wash my face with the Aesop Purifying facial cream cleanser. I then apply my moisturiser – I used to put on Zo Skin Health hydrating cream, but recently, I got my hands on a magical product called Moussse Moisture Rush cream. The brand is new, and this cream truly saved me as the temperature started to drop.
In the evening my routine is the same with just a few added steps. After I wash my face, I use the Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant facial toner from Aesop, sit under my Led mask (when I remember) and then add my Moisture Rush cream.
In Solynka's File
‘From Aesop – it keeps my little frizzes tamed, without making my hair look stiff.’
‘If I’m feeling adventurous I will add any lipstick from Hèrmes beauty. Mostly for the joy I get using that object. It’s just so pretty.’
‘Every time I use this my pores are tighter, my skin glows, and looks brighter.’

On Haircare
My haircare routine is very sparse. Most of my haircare takes place when I go to my hair dresser. In London, I go to Charlotte Mensah in Notting Hill.
At home, I wash my hair once a week with Elizabeta Zefi’s Hair Growth Shampoo, I then apply the Hair Growth mask. Before going out of the house, I always use Aesop’s Violet Leaf hair balm. It keeps my hair polished and hydrated.
On Make-up
I don’t wear make-up unless I go out.
In that case I put some bronzer from Mac, concealer under my eyes from Dior, some pink blush on my cheek from Hèrmes beauty, and mascara from Lancome.
If I’m feeling really adventurous I will add any lipstick from Hèrmes beauty. Mostly for the joy I get using that object. It’s just so pretty.
On Health and Wellness
My wellness philosophy is eat delicious food. Drink excellent wine. If it’s less than 40 minutes away, walk. Dance a lot. Laugh. Stay hydrated.
My husband is obsessed with food supplements so he prepares me little pill bundles every morning, which I reluctantly take. It’s usually omega 3, vitamin C, Zinc and vitamin D (in the winter). We are not faithful to any brands in particular.
On Rituals
I’m generally quite active. I practice yoga at Indaba, in Marylebone. Once a week I go to 1rebel for their Reshape class. I also play tennis once a week with a coach.
Once every 2 weeks or so I get a two hour deep tissue massage at Hua Ren Tang.
On Fragrance
The only perfume brand I use is Hèrmes but as I am getting older, I seldom use any perfume at all.
I guess the smell I’ve been most faithful to and which is most associated with me is the smell of my body lotion: the Creme Ultra Riche Corps from L’Occitane. I have used it since I was 15 and to this day I never found a body cream that hydrates as well as this one.
Solynka's Directory..
Hair: Charlotte Mensah (London), Studio Ana’e (Paris), and Monique Suckoo (New York, a true wonder).
In London I get my facial done by Jacqui Parker and I get my nails done at N bar in Marylebone.
When in Geneva (where I grew up) I go to La reserve for massages, facials and mani-pedi.
In New York I go to Paul Labrecque for facials, mani-pedi and hair if Monique is not available.
