I believe that when you’re feeling fulfilled and experiencing joy this emanates beauty, whether or not you’re following your skincare routine or getting enough sleep. On a more practical level, I try to keep my routine as simple as possible. I barely ever wear makeup up, so I try to focus on maintaining healthy-looking skin with an even texture.
What does Beauty mean to you?
On Skincare
Morning routine: I use my Currentbody LED Mask for 20 minutes while I meditate, I cleanse with the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. I use a Vitamin C Serum (I’m still trying to find a favourite) then the Glossier Superpure Niacinamide Serum. I moisturise with Pillowtalk Derm Gel Moisturiser or the Embryolisse Sensitive Moisturiser (I prefer this version as it is fragrance-free) and always try to wear sunscreen, usually La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50.
Evening routine: I cleanse with the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, Glossier Superpure Niacinamide Serum then the Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream, I will put a thick layer of La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Balm, allow it to sink in and then later in the night will apply Ketrel 0.05% Tretinoin Cream. If my skin is feeling sensitive I will use the L’Oreal Revitalift Night Serum with pure retinol as it is gentler – or will avoid retinol completely and add a layer of the Monastery Attar Floral Repair Concentrate.
In Grace's File
‘This balmy moisturiser feels and smells like heaven. It’s incredibly nourishing so I will use it when my skin is feeling sensitive from retinol or after a sauna to help it really absorb.’
‘Great for accelerating the healing process when I get a bruise (which seems to be all the time), it also has a lovely scent. ‘
‘I’ve been using this all-natural New Zealand product since I was a kid. It’s incredibly versatile—perfect as a lip balm, for soothing skin irritations, and for combating dry winter skin.’
‘I prefer not to overdo it with exfoliants, so I use this just once a week.
‘I love this as it’s fragrance free.’
On Haircare
I love my Mason & Pearson brush, they last forever. I have curly hair and find that sleeping with a silk pillowcase has helped with frizziness. I use Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner and will add a mix of oils (squalane, argan, marula)to the ends of my hair between washes. I always dry my hair with a microfibre head wrap or a cotton t-shirt, again, to prevent frizziness.
On Make-up
I almost never wear make up, if I do it is very subtle. For concealer I use the YSL Touche Èclat, the Chanel ‘Les Beiges’ Healthy Glow Lip Balm in medium gives the lips a nice natural tint, I also like the Glossier Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid for glowy skin that isn’t sparkly.
On Health and Wellness
I try to drink at least 2L of water a day, I have had a Berkey Water Filter for over ten years now and everyone that drinks from it is converted. I try to stay attuned to my body, if I have had a big week of wine, socializing, and parties then I might balance it out with some rest and alone time. Connection and fun are important for health, so are vegetables.
On Rituals
Every couple of months I will see my osteopath to realign my body. Even if I am too busy to work out, I will at least try to stretch my body everyday. My gym has a sauna that I use weekly, it feels luxurious and helps with stress.
On Fragrance
I alternate between wearing Neroli essential oil, Frederic Malle ‘Cologne Indelibile’ and for something lighter I will rub some of the Buly ‘Fleur D’Oranger’ Body Milk on my neck and chest.
‘I use this as a thick hydrating mask a couple of times a week.’
