What does Beauty mean to you?
On Skincare
I’m always faffing about to leave the house, usually running late. I’m working on this, and trying to stop procrastinating but it essentially means I have to have a morning routine that’s pretty quick.
I usually just rinse my face with water in the shower, I don’t wash my face in the AM because I wash it at night and find it too stripping to wash twice. Once I get out of the shower I put a Hyaluronic acid or equivalent serum on while my face is damp at the moment its Haeckles Algae Plump Serum, then I’ll brush my teeth, get dressed (quite an essential step) and apply Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate or Haeckles Eco Marine Cream).
Once that has all sunk in I pop on some sunscreen, Supergoop GlowScreen has been my favourite for a few years now. In the evening, I will double cleanse if I’m feeling sprightly/have worn makeup. I’m obsessed with the One Love Botanical Enzyme Cleansing Oil and the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I also really like the CeraVe Renewing Salicylic Acid Cleanser. If my skin is super dry I’ll pop on an oil (any single ingredient oil or I am a fan of ACO renewing face oil) and then seal it with Weleda Skin Food.

‘Makeup artists favourite. One I adopted early on in my career. Gentle, moisturising, and creates a great base for makeup.’
‘Super hydrating and nonsticky. I am a loyal fan of Haeckles, special shout out to their Eco Marine cream and body washes too.’
‘I always get breakouts when I’m on my period, so these are a staple – they are great for traveling. I love how fun they are, I wear them out and about.’

‘The best lip product. It also has the best applicaton.’
On Haircare
My hair is a fab, unpredictable, and at times stubborn entity so the best tip I’ve learned is to be accommodating and go with it.
I wash with a sulfate-free shampoo, detangle with a silicone-free conditioner and use a long toothed Tangle Teezer. For shampoo and conditioner, I like TGIN, Briogeo and As I Am.
For styling, I use a moisturising leave-in (currently I’m using the Mane Choice 3in1 Revitalise and Refresh Conditioner), and then I’ll use an alcohol-free defining gel. I really like Pattern Beauty Curl Gel or Kinky Curly Curling Custard. Both the leave-in and the Gel are applied in the shower on wet hair.
Then I’ll give it a gentle squeeze and wrap it in a microfiber towel, and then leave it to air dry. I try do a deep treatment every couple of weeks too. Giving my hair moisture, care and being delicate (but sometimes firm) yield the best results, especially to make up for some of the treatment it gets at work. My mum taught me everything I know about caring for my hair and embracing my texture. I love braiding it and experimenting with new styles too, it’s versatile.
On Make-up
I’m not particularly skilled in the makeup department, so often I will just roll out barefaced (the Supergoop Glowscreen adds a really nice subtle colour/glow so I don’t look like I’m still unconscious).
If I am doing makeup, it starts with Kosas Concealer – I’ve been a fan for a long time. It’s super hydrating but still has coverage and also has skincare in the formula which is a plus. I will then add some Milk Makeup Matte Cream Bronzer Stick and blend that in with a damp beauty blender.
Next, I’ll do some Milk Makeup Blush in the colour ‘Werk’. I’m a big fan of cream products, I think they’re slightly more forgiving if you’re not as skilled in application. I pop a bit of Glossier Haloscope in Quartz on the top of my cheekbones and thats pretty much it for base. I have to brush my eyebrows because they’re wirey and unruly. I really need them to stay in place i’ll use some clear Refy Brow Sculpt. I curl my eyelashes but often don’t wear mascara because it somehow always ends up under my eyes/on my face no matter how hard I try. But I do like the Glossier Lashslick Mascara.
Lastly, I’ll do a lip. Lipliner is my one and only talent when it comes to makeup so I take some joy in this part. I love brown and nude shades – MAC Lip Pencil in the shade Cork, NYX Lip Pencil in Nutmeg, and Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner in Iconic Nude. I’ll either leave it matte or I’ll add Refy Clear Lipgloss or Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm in Vanilla Beige. Both are nonstick, and super hydrating.
On Health and Wellness
I often find myself starting health and wellbeing behaviours with the best of intentions but end up falling out of the routine. I’m trying to be kinder to myself and accept that I’m not good at super strict disciplined regimes.
With that being said I really enjoy pilates, hot yoga and barre – even if it’s been a minute since I’ve indulged. I also love spearmint tea, it has anti-androgen effects and is supposedly really good for those of us with PCOS (meeeeeee).
I love water and swimming – so when I’m in London I always take advantage of the leisure centres, or when I visit my family in LA we spend a lot of time at the beach. I’ve been very good at sticking to journaling, therapy and taking my medication. These habits are extremely important to me and have proven to be invaluable in sustaining my wellbeing.
On Rituals
I am currently obsessed with icing my face. Not only does it wake me up and de puff but it also really calms me down. Most of the people I’ve dated indulged in cold showers, so maybe thats my next development. Like a full body icing lol. I also like to Gua Sha, but don’t do it as often as I should. Lastly, I’ve been getting more into breathing techniques.
On Fragrance
Le Labo Another 13 is my go to, J’ADORE anything with Ambroxan. I also love Byredo Gypsy Water and Malin and Goetz Stem. I like green, woody, fresh scents. Nothing sweet or powdery.
Your Beauty Secrets..
Sleep and water are such basic answers but wow do they work wonders. I can always tell if I’ve been excessively drinking, eating too much salt, or anything else that dehydrates me because I look raggedy.
Georgia’s Directory..
I will say London has the best braiders and New York has the best waxers. For accessible facials the Heyday franchise in NYC are great, their staff are super friendly and knowledgable.
‘A good non physical exfoliator is a LIFESAVER, I use this product once or twice a week and it rejuvenates my skin. I used to be a victim to the St.Ives face scrub when I was a teenager, so I’ve come a long way.’
