What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty to me feels raw, natural & untouched. hair, art, skin, architecture. I love seeing a woman with curly hair, maybe a little bit frizzy, she’s unbothered, confident, unapologetically herself. I love seeing a woman in a white tank and classic jeans, pure comfort, engaged in the moment. I love old architecture, morrocan red stone that has been used in the build of a home.

To me, beauty resides in the purest form.

What does your morning and evening skincare routine look like?

It’s taken me so long to figure out what works for me, I’m almost 28 & I feel like I’ve only just figured it out. I love a slow morning… I love waking up before the sun, giving myself that time of silence before the chaos of the day begins. I also love pilates in the mornings, I find it helps with my energy & productivity levels in day, I also find it helps stabilise my hormones.

My am & pm skincare routine is almost exactly the same. I love using gentle products. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past overusing actives, I just find its easier to keep track when I can use the products as many time as I need.

I always start with my nuface or guasha, I’ve been encorporating both in my routine for over 4 years… I love it for depuffing in the morning.

I then use the isclinical gentle cleanser a few times a week I’ll go in with a micellar sponge to exfoliate a little more.

I always tone my skin, I’ve been using Perricone Md pore minimizing toner for so many years, I don’t think I could ever change. I’ve never really struggled with acne, although I do have pore prone skin, so I usually like to use water/gel based products. For this reason I love using the isclinical reparative moisture emulsion, a classic & worth every penny in my opinion.

The skin on my body is quite dry, I always moisturise…sometimes twice a day. I love using the Aesop Geranium Leave body balm. Something about the herbatious scent, I love it. I love pairing this with the Aesop geranium body wash too.

What are your make up essentials?

I keep it super simple with my makeup, I’m super expressive, I touch & move my face a lot, I play with my hair…I’m always fiddling. Hence why I like to keep it simple, nothing to ruin or smudge.

I also like to be able to fit everything in my handbag, I’m always on the go & I travel a lot, so if it doesn’t fit, or doesn’t come in a lightweight packaging, it goes!

My favourite product at the moment is the copini beauty countour stick. I apply this as bronzer, lip liner, eyeshadow, it’s so perfect & compact.

I also love the Christina sikalias lip liners. I’ve been using these for a few years now, they’re the perfect brown shades for me.

A forever product for me is the Chanel lip & cheek balm…the perfect consistency & pigmentation. It’s the perfect blush for a natural subtle flush.

Oh I also never leave the house without an eyebrow spooly… my eyebrows are super thick & long, I generally don’t like using any eyebrow gels as I like the fluffy natural look.

One last thing, I’m a gloss girl through & through. I like the extra dimesion a dark brown gloss gives me, I don’t feel complete without it.

Talk us through your hair care routine.

My Haircare routine is also very simple, I have curly hair that I’ve been passed down from my mothers side. My mother has tight curls & my dads side has straighter thicker hair so I’ve been blessed with a combination of both.

I use one product mainly at the moment – the As I Am leave in curl conditioner. No crazy routine, I just apply when damp, put it into two braids for 20 minutes to help with the frizz… the product does all the talking, it’s lightweight & keeps my curls soft. Once my hair is dried, I love brushing my curls out with a wide tooth comb for a fluffy curly look.

I live in quite a dry state & naturally, having curls is also very drying. Once a week I massage my hair with jojoba oil & leave it in for a couple hours. This really helps bring my curls back to life when it’s feeling dull (I’ve even gotten my fiancé onto it as he also has long curly hair).

I’ve spent many years cutting, dyeing, reshaping, experimenting… I always go back to what was given to me first, my natural long curly brown hair.

In Camelia'a File

“On the go always, I can apply with my fingers in 2 minutes! I hate spending time getting ready & this just does it all for me.”

“I have very heavy long lashes so my eyelashes dry straight. I always feel beautiful & feminine with a curl in my lash.”

What is your approach to health and wellness?

I’ve been through a whirlwind with my health & wellness. With an ADHD diagnoses, PMDD & severe seasonal allergies… I’ve learnt to know what works for myself very well.

I eat mainly whole food, because it makes me feel incredible. With ADHD, I can crash very easily…so I like to stick to foods that I know will keep me stable through the day. Whole grains, fresh seafood, occasionally red meat & lots of fruit & vegetables. Eating in this way also helps keep my hormones balanced & happy.

I never push myself with working out, but I know how important it is for me to move my body first thing in the morning. If I’m not feeling like doing pilates or weights, I’ll make sure to go for a walk first thing to substitute. Listening to my body has been the hardest thing I’ve had to learn & I have to constantly remind myself how much my mental health benefits from consistent movement.

My health & wellness philosophy is – found out what works for you & stick to it. Don’t feel guilty, don’t deviate, it’s our lives & we all deserve to feel our best. We are so unique… we all have different needs – especially as women!

I’m a sucker for a wellness treatment/tool. I use my infrared sauna at home weekly, dry brush, gua sha, vibration plate, led mask…I love a lymphatic massage… the list could go on & on. These are truly my happy place.

What is your go to fragrance?

I love an androgynous scent, something herbaceous & almost unusual. I switch between four perfumes, depending on my mood, the season and what time of day it is.

Aesop Tacit, Aesop Eidesis, Malin & Goetz Dark Rum, Byredo Bal Dafrique. I’m not sure why I’m drawn to these scents, sometimes I think the herbaceous notes bring me back to my person ethnicity, all the dishes served with herbs & spices takes me to a place.

Do you have one beauty tip that you absolutely swear by?

Keep it simple, natural & comfortable. This always looks the most beautiful in my eyes.

Who do you recommend for beauty treatments?

All my beauty treatments I got to are Melbourne based!

For hair I go to KenniHair – she gives the best healthy cuts & has helped me go from damaged shorter hair to long curly hair.

For lashes, I always visit Steph who owns Lifts&Lash…no one can curl my heavy lashes like them!

For facials, I only visit a few times a year, but I’ll always SkinDaySpa.

I keep my nails bare, but I do love a hydrating mani pedi, I visit a small local shop near my home, they always take care of me so well <3
