Rose Howard Talks Us Through Her Enviable Product Line-Up
Spend even five minutes perusing Rose Howard’s Instagram, and I guarantee you’ll be ~flummoxed~ as to how a person with such infallible skin as hers has time to think, let alone socialise for what seems like every one of her waking hours. It’s because of her that I’m reaching for a sheet mask with one hand and writing this with the other. Honestly. And pls don’t get me started on her hair. We could be here all day.
The serial Bondi dweller has one of the best collections of vintage clothing we’ve ever seen, perpetually inspiring us to trawl the racks of Zoo Emporium and The RealReal for our own ~rare~ finds. She also knows a thing or ten about our favourite subject (beauty, if you didn’t guess). She is a beauty writer after all, perhaps explaining her heavenly trove of products and #flawless complexion. Maybe it’s Maybelline, but it’s more likely to be a combination of the following six products. Thanks for sharing, Rose!
Comme des Garçons Black EDT
“You know that tired old beauty adage? The one where a woman is asked to reveal her signature scent, to which she responds: “Oh, it simply has to be [insert perfume]! I get stopped on the street by strangers wanting to know what I’m wearing. Every. Single. Time.” Comme des Garçons Black is that scent for me. When it comes to perfume, I prefer smoky over sweet, and Black strikes the perfect balance between masculine and feminine, tough and seductive, with pepper, tobacco, leather, liquorice, incense, and cedarwood. Special mention goes to Marc Jacobs Gardenia, my ostentatiously repurposed linen spray.”
Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Prickly Pear
“Without wanting to sound hyperbolic, I’m just going to come straight out and sound completely hyperbolic: Christophe Robin’s Prickly Pear Mask is hands down the best hair treatment in the whole world… The entire universe, even. I’ve been getting my lengths lifted from dark brown to blonde for almost ten years, and this has played a major role in bringing it back to life. The best part of all is that it’s free from parabens, silicon, and SLS, meaning that the resulting softness and shine is 100% legit (i.e. not the temporary trickery of synthetics).”
MAC Strobe Cream
“An oldie but a goodie, MAC’s Strobe Cream is the ultimate pick-me-up for tired, ‘blah’, lacklustre skin. It gives you glow without the glitter, and therefore works wonders following a deadline bender or a big night of tap dancing. Mix it in with your moisturiser or apply to the high points of the face. Nobody will suspect a thing.”
Bumble and Bumble Brilliantine
“What you see here in Figure 4.0 (pictured above) is the ultimate sexy hair combo. I don’t do a lot with my mane when it comes to styling, but when I do, I apply Oribe’s Maximista through the roots and blow-dry upside down before warming Brillantine between my palms and taking it through the ends. I don’t know what it does or how it does it. Perhaps it’s witchery. All I do know is that it lends you a polished, yet undone languid-sexy-irreverent French girl vibe.”
Sunday Riley Juno Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil
“I warm this face oil between my hands and apply it sparingly to the high points of my face during summer. Now that the air’s drying up, along with my skin (hahlp), I slather it on like butter before going to bed, or mix it in with my moisturiser for a bit of extra oomph during the day. It’s packed with all the things that lend you a glowy AF complexion: antioxidants, vitamin C, amino acids, and omegas 3, 6, and 9. Sunday Riley’s Luna Oil with trans-retinol ester is also 10/10.”
Chanel Rouge Allure Ink
“This is one of Chanel’s latest lipstick releases, and the technology is fire. The liquid formula is super pigmented. The colour almost glows. The frosted glass packaging is on point. And it leaves behind a satin-matte finish without drying or caking. My favourite shades are Amoureux (a dusty nude), Luxuriant (a deep warm pink), and Vivant (a neon coral).”
