So in our dream world we would be buying pretty much everything from the SS16 Celine, Marant and Wang shows. Find us a credit card with some space on it, and we’d be dropping some serious coin on those black men’s overalls at Wang, the lace slip dresses at Celine and those Isabel Marant sandals.

But the dream ends and reality hits hard when we realise we can probably afford one pair of sandals (while hating on ourselves for spending too much money on stuff we can’t remember buying).

So instead we turn to beauty inspo from the shows and man, SS16 was like a goldmine. You know what gets us twerking? When designers get it. And this season, they really got it. The ‘no make-up’ make-up look was all over the catwalk and the “just out of the pool” look was all the rage for hair. Basically, they jumped inside our heads and realised both of these things make up our daily MO.

But it’s not as easy as it looks and IRL, we like to make it happen for the street, and special occasions, like the spring racing season.

When the look is all about ‘no look,’ attention turns to radiant skin highlighted in bronze and neutrals, groomed brows and wet and slicked back.

Here are a few of our favourite looks from the SS16 runways and some tips for how to DIY at home.

The Tom Ford Metallic eye

He’s the man practically known for bringing sexy back, way before Justin Timberlake. And though the smokey eye can often get a bad rap for being a little too intimidating for those of you who haven’t had a lot of practise with this intense look, we’ve created a version that’s super easy to apply. The trick? Line the entire eye in a metallic pencil before blending back with a slightly lighter shade of shadow around the eyes. Basically, there’s nothing wrong with faking it. Apply with your fingers!

The Altuzarra Terracotta eye

For those of us who don’t like to spend too much time on our make-up, this is a seriously #trending look that is ultra approachable and easy – with a twist. Keep skin and lashes totally bare. Dab your fingers into the terracotta shadow, (Yes – fingers. No brushes allowed here, people. Everything about this look has to feel really organic) and work around your eyes. Careful not to layer too much, the jaundice look is not what we are going for here.

We mixed two shades of cream shadow for this look, a burnt orange with a coral (both from MAC) and applied to the eyelids, matching the lips back with a shade that was just softer.

Finish with a half up/half down hair do for a real rock/romance vibe.

The Jason Wu Red Lip

The red lip is potentially tricky territory but we think we’ve cracked the code. Do as the Parisiennes do and play it cool. Ditch the black tie associations and strip this look back. Ensure skin is flawless – we haven’t used foundation here, just a touch of concealer on the blemishes. No highlighter, no mascara, nothing on the brows. Keep eyes nude – a little heavy handed mascara can work here too – and slick back hair for a raw, striking look. Tres chic.
