The first time I saw a photo of Emily Labowe, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. Was this the year 1960? Was that a young Jane Birkin staring back at me from my computer screen, dressed in jeans and high-top cons? No; it turns out that I, like everyone else under the sun, had just immediately clocked an uncanny resemblance between the L.A.-based model/actor/student and one of the most iconic women in history.

The likeness between Emily and Jane doesn’t end at their above-average, near-perfect bone structure, cascading mane of silky locks, and très chic bangs. Like the OG slashie queen, Emily ain’t just a one-trick pony. The girl can act. The social anthropology and film student is also a pro at modelling. She’s played tambourine on-stage with her boyfriend’s band, and she embroiders undies for fun in her spare time. Dream girl alert.

Emily has the kind of face and hair that I’d probably (definitely) trade my first-born for. Since I’m not sure I’ll even have kids, the next best thing I could think of was finding out what products line her beauty cabinet. You’re welcome! Beauty routine aside, we also chatted through her L.A. shopping/drinking highlights reel, her fave books, and what she’s most excited for this year. Get to know the true beauty below.

What’s your skincare routine? Tell us about the products you swear by.
I have a pretty simple and relaxed beauty and skincare routine. Most days I just wash my face with cold water, but if I have a shoot or a day/night out wearing make-up, I like to use the CLE Cosmetics Melting Cleanser and then the Mario Badescu Facial Spray. I also like using under-eye masks and lip masks for repairing and moisturizing. I have an orchid under eye mask from Sephora that helps with bags and smoothing my skin. I also have a simple moisturizing lip mask from Sephora, which I love as well.

Do you wear make-up? What’s your go-to everyday product?
Black liquid liner (right now I am use Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner), Glossier Boy Brow in Brown, Charlotte Tilbury mascara, Milk’s Perk Blush on my eyelids and under my eyes, Smith’s Rosebud Salve on my lips, and sometimes the Milk highlighter. I’ve been using liquid eyeliner for years, but I’m still not sure I have the hang of it. I think my skills vary day to day, but I usually tend not to make a full line from the inner part of my eye to the outer. I like the look of a thinner line. I start towards that edge and make a simple thin wing in one stroke. If I mess up, I go back and fill in the parts that are missing!

What’s your haircare approach? What products do you use?
Wake and bake. I don’t do anything to my hair. I should buy a hair brush.

What’s the biggest beauty mistake you’ve made?
Hmm, too much blush? Also, lipstick on my teeth.

When do you feel your best?
Being outdoors in the sunlight with good friends, good food, and laughs.

How do you unwind?
Brian Eno, a hot bath with a bath bomb from Lush, and candles. So many candles. My favorite candle right now is a teakwood and tobacco soy candle. I also love burning Palo Santo.

What’s that one word that you can’t stop saying at the moment?
Ingobernable.

christydawn.com.

What albums are on high rotation for you at the moment?

Where are your favourite places to shop, eat, and drink in L.A.?
Shopping: The Painted Bird, Avalon, and The Bearded Beagle.
Food and drinks: Dinette, Blair’s, Alimento for the best pulpo, Stella for mussels,  hamachi, and drinks, Daily Dose for the farmers salad, Katsuya in The Valley, Sunset Beer, and Lassens is my favorite market.

What’s your favourite travel destination, and why?
Thailand! It has the best food, the greatest/kindest people, the most amazing beaches, and the cheapest massages!

What’s your earliest beauty memory?
Playing dress-up in my grandma’s wigs. Also, blue eyeshadow, and red cheeks and lips when I was five or six with my sister.

If you could resurrect one beauty trend, what would it be?
Fake Marilyn Monroe beauty marks. They come in handy when you get a pimple near your lip!

What’s your most treasured item of clothing/jewellery?
My gold Hebrew name ring that my mom gave me when I was thirteen. I still wear it every day.

Equal pay and treatment of women in the workplace.

Who is your biggest hero, and why?
Jane Birkin, because she is the most confident, intelligent, independent, talented, all-round super woman, with immense beauty on the inside and out. She has a badass career – she’s musically talented, a model, an actress, and an amazing mother. Goals.
